Women take on many roles in life. A common one is family caregiver. Women often put the needs of their spouse, partner, children and parents before their own.
National Women’s Health Week gives the chance for all of us to celebrate the women in our life—and for women to focus on their own health and wellness.
We have a suggestion! Schedule a yearly well-woman visit with your primary care provider (PCP). This is a free appointment. Your well-woman visit is a time to talk with your PCP about:
- Your health habits and family history.
- Your future health plans. Are you planning to become pregnant soon? Thinking about losing weight or starting an exercise program? Quitting smoking? Your PCP can give helpful and supportive advice for reaching your health goals.
- Health screenings or vaccinations you need.
- Your mental health. Mental and physical health care are connected. Ask for tips on how to manage stress.
