CareOregon's 2018 parade float finds a new home

A highlight for CareOregon staff and members is marching in the Portland Rose Festival’s Starlight Parade, and a few weeks later at the Portland Pride parade.

What made it extra special in 2018 was to walk beside the CareOregon float which was topped by a genuine set of playground equipment, knowing that the equipment would live on a create joy, long after the float was dismantled.

"The Starlight Parade's theme, 'Play Happy,' gave us the idea that the float decorations could have a second life, benefitting local children," says CareOregon Community Relations Manager Tamara Pedrojetti.

Today, children are again playing with the equipment when the recess bell rings every day at James John School in the St. Johns neighborhood.

On January 12, CareOregon staffers and their families joined with James John students, families and staff to give the newly installed equipment a rousing start.
