Hear Izzy’s story

Hear Izzy’s story

For Izzy, substance use started when he was 17 years old. He grew up in the 80s in New Mexico where it wasn’t safe to come out as a gay man. He then turned to drugs and alcohol to cope. Izzy is now 7 years in recovery, and the Executive Director of Go The Distance, an organization that helps others achieve recovery through running.

Izzy shows us that there are many roads to recovery—his dog Anna Mae, his friend Mike, and his community.

By sharing the individual stories and journeys of people in recovery, we hope to bring awareness to substance use recovery services.

Join us and Izzy in building a community that supports recovery.
