Local councils help steer future of Oregon's health care

Jul 2, 2019, 07:00 AM

Community members make up an important part of the effort statewide to improve the Oregon Health Plan (Medicaid). These volunteers — both OHP members and other interested citizens — spend hours of their own time advising the Coordinated Care Organizations that oversee the state’s Medicaid health care delivery system.

Oregon News Service’s story asks these volunteers why they do it and hears from CCO staff why the input of these “Community Advisory Panels” is so important.

The story was broadcast by radio stations around Oregon and posted on the ONS website, in English and Spanish.
