PA removal for topical diclofenac

Dec 17, 2021, 08:00 AM

CareOregon is happy to announce topical diclofenac 1% gel is now formulary without prior authorization. Quantity limits are in place for large use (3x100 gram tubes per month), but most usual prescriptions will be covered. Topical diclofenac was one of our top requested products via preauthorization. It’s important to note that although it now has an OTC version available, a prescription is still necessary for the pharmacy to bill CareOregon. Particularly for patients looking for a topical option, this is a great choice we are excited to offer. Our pharmacy team carefully monitors prior authorization request rates, rejected claims and the cost of medications. We work with our Pharmacy & Therapeutics committee to continue to expand coverage options where we can and are pleased to be able to announce this change.
