Good in the Hood: 28 years of building commUNITY
Neighborhood party. Bring the family!
February is Black History Month and this year’s theme is The Black Family: Representation, Identity, and Diversity. Our partners at Good in the Hood have some experience with this theme. The first five words in their mission statement are “To value and celebrate diversity…” And they’ve been doing it for 28 years through the annual Good in the Hood Multicultural Music & Food Festival, the largest multi-cultural festival in the Pacific Northwest.
Held in NE Portland, Good in the Hood provides an opportunity for local residents, businesses and organizations to gather in celebration, while strengthening unity in the community. With a variety of food, music, helpful resource booths, kid’s activities and even a parade, it’s totally family friendly. But they can’t do it without help. That’s where organizations like CareOregon come into play.
We know the importance of family and community, especially as it relates to well-being. Our partnership with Good in the Hood sponsors the multi-day festival experience, while also providing support for their scholarship program. Investing in the present and future of diversity and the Black family is The CareOregon Effect.
