CareOregon hosts free, four-part Youth Substance Use Disorder Learning Series for educators, providers and individuals working with youth
PORTLAND, Ore. (Aug. 24, 2023)—Today, CareOregon announced that it is hosting a free, four-part learning series about Youth Substance Use and Disorders. The training series aims to increase knowledge of youth-serving staff and medical providers
regarding key issues impacting youth and how to navigate the substance use disorder treatment landscape.
“We’re hosting this series in response to tremendous community need,” said Stacie Andoniadis, CareOregon substance use disorder program manager. “We’ve seen a sharp increase in overdoses among teens, especially those who
aren’t regular drug users. Fentanyl has really changed the landscape. Providers and youth serving staff need new information and evidence-based tools to meet the needs that young people are facing.”
The Youth Substance Use Disorder (SUD) Learning Series aims to increase access to treatment and knowledge of best-practices and supports for youth across the tri-county Metro region by sharing clinical and community-based, evidence-based practices and
interventions across the physical health, behavioral health, family, school, and community settings.
The four-day series will take place between Sept. 15 and Nov. 9. Individuals do not need to attend all four sessions to participate. This activity has been planned and implemented in accordance with the accreditation requirements and policies of the Accreditation
Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) through the joint providership of OHSU School of Medicine and CareOregon.
The full day, no charge, in-person learning series will take place at The Melody Event Center in the inner East side of Portland.
