Pride for Absolutely Everyone: CareOregon joins the 2023 Pride Parade with its very own ‘80s themed float

Jul 13, 2023, 22:00 PM

After years of participation in Portland’s Pride Parade, we’re thrilled that for the first time CareOregon will be upgrading its entry to include a float. Our float’s theme, “Pride for Absolutely Everyone,” honors the LGBTQ community, promotes health equity and celebrates inclusion and equal rights for all.

The ‘80s themed float will include dueling DJs and float riders jamming to a curated mix amidst rainbow stars, funky dance floor and rainbow-clad marchers.

Float riders will include CareOregon's dueling DJs Rachael Manley and Jacob Martin—two leaders from CareOregon Employee Resource Groups (ERG) focused on ensuring that CareOregon best supports its LGBTQIA2S+ staff and community members.

They’ll also be accompanied by Karl Berry, co-chair of CareOregon’s Parade People affinity group, and four other CareOregon staff. Marchers will follow closely behind dancing to hit '80s tunes.

"CareOregon is proud to celebrate the strength and resilience of LGBTQIA2S+ communities,” said Alison Arella, CareOregon Vice President, Community Impact. "As a healthcare organization, we play a critical role in moving our community toward a future where health equity, inclusion, equal rights and empowerment are a reality for all.”

Portland Pride Waterfront Festival & Parade draws tens of thousands of people to downtown Portland with a reputation for being one of the largest "small town" Pride parades west of the Mississippi. With over 8,000 participants and 180 entries, this vibrant parade is the highlight of Portland Pride!

The 2023 Portland Pride Waterfront Festival and Parade takes place the weekend of July 15-16. Learn more here.
